Fisheries resources conservation is a sustainable approach to develop household economics by communities

With the aim of promoting co-management of fisheries resources in Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir, on May 14th 2015 in Tuyen Quang province, the Center of Water Resources Conservation and Development (WARECOD) and Na Hang District People's Committee (DPC) , Tuyen Quang province jointly held the project opening workshop “Enhancing Co-management towards Sustainable Aquatic Resources in Tuyen Quang Province”. The implementation of the project is playing an important part in raising community’s awareness and fostering more sustainably the co-management model of fisheries resources in the area.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chuyen – vice chairman in Na Hang DPC had a brief speech on status of fisheries resources and evaluated the importance of the project and the community’s role in protecting fisheries resources in Na Hang.
Mrs. Dao Thi Viet Nga – WARECOD’s director - summarized projects on Gam river basin and in Na Hang district from 2009 to present and presented activities which are being implemented in the next two years. With achieved results, Na Hang district authorities highly appreciated the project’s activities in 2015 – 2016.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh An – Head of Tuyen Quang Fisheries department and other departments related to fisheries resources management had a discussion and many questions for project’s activities. The representative of Fisheries department and related departments expressed their agreement in assisting and supporting the project activities in the upcoming years.
2 community groups in Son Phu commune and Na Hang town were presented at the workshop and shared difficulties in fisheries resources management in the area. With the presence of 2 community groups, the project was expected to achieve objectives and more strongly promote the co-management model in the area and Tuyen Quang province.
