Project Opening Workshop “River food systems from villagers’ perspectives in the mekong delta”
On
March 27th 2015, WARECOD, MekongNet and Research Institute for Climate
Change and the College of Aquaculture and Fisheries – Can Tho University
joining hands in organizing Project Opening Workshop: “River food systems from villagers’ perspectives in the Mekong Delta” at College of Environtment & Natural Resources - Can Tho University.
Attending the workshop were representatives of Can Tho city’s Departments (Department
of Agriculture and Rural Development; Fisheries Department, Irrigation
Department); in Bac Lieu province (Department of Agriculture and Rural
Development; Department of exploitation and Protection of Fishery
Resources; Irrigation Department); An Giang province (Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development; Fisheries Department) and Cờ Đỏ and Phong Điền districts authorities.
Besides
sharing the research results carried out by both College of Aquaculture
and Fisheries – Can Tho University and WARECOD in Mekong Delta during
the conference, participants also listened to viewpoints shared by
experts and representatives of Thai Baan research groups.
(1) Bac Lieu Women Union questioning Thai Baan methodology and emphasizing the importance of improving Women’s knowledge.

Dr. Tran Van Ha sharing the method and experiences in implementing
research; emphasizing the strength and differences of Thai Baan method
from other research.
(3) Dr. Mai Viet Van presenting a proposal of studying the importance of fisheries resources in Ca Mau

Mr. Vo Thanh Trang – a representative of research group in Vam Nao, Tan
Trung hamlet, Phu Tan district, An Giang province presenting Thai Baan
research result
(5) Mr Nguyen Trong Thuy - a representative from Dong Thang commune, Co Do district saying
“With the participatory approaching, I highly appreciate the role and
meaning of the project towards socioeconomic development and
environmental protection in the current context of climate change. Local
authorities will highly support to implement the project in the
region”.
(6) Assistant Professor Le Anh Tuan – a representative of Mekongnet summarizing and evaluating the workshop’s results.
